A grand ceremony held on Aug 23 at Hudong Neighborhood Center Square in SIP’s Hudong sub-district unveiled a set of autumn courses to be offered at “Hudong Union University”, a WeChat-based public education project. Hudong sub-district authorities launched the project in March in a move to join the efforts of public institutions, social organizations and individuals to offer the local residents various learning opportunities.

 

It is reported that 74 organizations plan to offer 249 courses for recreational and vocational training purposes at the “university” at favorable prices during the new semester, and 99 of the courses have been put online. A series of demo classes had been offered before the event, and received positive response from the attendees.

 

At the event, the organizations introduced their courses to the participants and offered services on site to help them better understand the courses. Besides, 16 organizations and several individuals received certificates as partners for a list of programs at the “university”.
