The five-day "Hengfeng Bank Cup" 10- and 11-Year-Olds' Basketball Competition, part of the 19th Jiangsu Sports Games, concluded at Guangling District Gymnasium, Yangzhou on Aug 15. A team of 11-year-old girls from Shengpu Experimental Primary School (SPEPS) in SIP garnered the silver medal in their group.

A total of 13 teams competed in the group. In the process, the girls from SPEPS demonstrated excellent skills, strong perseverance and good teamwork spirit. They moved into the quarterfinal with two wins in a row and skated to the final with a dominant victory, though they eventually lost only one score to the champion team.

According to the organizer, the event, which also offered the little participants chances to visit an exhibition about basketball games' development in Jiangsu and watch the video of a match between the Chinese and the US teams at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, showed good effect in increasing the youngsters' enthusiasm for the sport.
