Bruce Stillman, president and CEO of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL), received the "Suzhou Science and Technology Cooperation Award" from Suzhou government on Feb 26 for his constant support to the cooperation between CSHL and the city. Li Yaping, deputy secretary of CPC Suzhou Committee and mayor of Suzhou, presented the award to him.

The US-headquartered CSHL, which has shaped contemporary biomedical research and education with programs in cancer, neuroscience, plant biology and quantitative biology, started cooperation with SIP in 2007 by setting up CSH Asia Convention Center in the area. The convention center has hosted nearly 200 high-end international academic events since it came into service in 2010, attracting more than 10,000 scientists, researchers and scholars from about 60 countries and regions.

Another cooperation project between the two parties was launched in 2015, leading to the establishment of CSH Asia DNA Learning Center in SIP. The center now plays a significant role in popularizing life science among the local youngsters.

In the event, Bruce Stillman said CSHL expects to deepen the cooperation with SIP in driving technological innovation in life science to a larger extent.
