The Inaugural Business China Enterprise Award Goes to SIP

The 1st Business China Awards (www.businesschina.org.sg) of Singapore were announced on January 10, and the Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew personally presented the awards to the winning units and individuals, among which were Tao Shing Pee, founder of Shing Kwan Group, for Business China Excellent Award, China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park for Business China Enterprise Award, and Singapore's music icon Stefanie Sun Yanzi for Business China Young Achiever Award.  

Jointly initiated by patron Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in November 2007, Business China is an effective networking platform integrating language, economic and cultural elements.

Chairman Chua Thian Poh of Business China said the awards aimed to commend individuals and organizations for their outstanding contributions to the friendly relations between China and Singapore and to encourage more people to developing cultural and economic ties with China and the entire world.    

Secretary Ma Minglong of SIP Party Working Committee said the flagship cooperation project between the two countries had grown up from an infant to an energetic 17-year-old teenager. By learning from the established practices of Singapore, SIP has realized steady and rapid development of service-oriented, innovation-based, and low-carbon economy as well as industrial upgrading, thanks to the support from the leaders and various communities of both countries.
