19 Enterprises Recognized as Energy Efficiency Stars

Recently the first batch of 19 enterprises was recognized as three-star and four-star enterprises in the selection of Star of Energy Efficiency in Suzhou. It is reported that since the establishment of Star of Energy Efficiency, the activity has drawn close attention at home and abroad and even received funding support from the Energy Foundation. Internationally renowned institutions like the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory of U.S. Department of Energy and UK government's Strategic Project Funds also showed willingness of cooperation to build the brand of Star of Energy Efficiency jointly with Suzhou.

Focusing on the reinforcement of energy management, implementation of energy-saving technological renovation projects and according to the utilization status of key energy consumers, the experts reviewed the overall energy efficiency of 22 pilot enterprises in the initial phrase of Star of Energy Efficiency, for enforcing the assessment standards strictly by relying on 76 indexes in enterprises' energy management system, index of energy efficiency, technical progress and energy performance. According to the assessment, 5 enterprises including Gold Huasheng Paper Co., Ltd. and AU Optronics (Suzhou) Corporation were recognized four-star enterprises and other 14 enterprises, including Changshu 3F Fluorochemical Industry Co., Ltd were recognized as three-star enterprises.

The first batch of 22 Star of Energy Efficiency pilot enterprises invested 1.45 billion yuan in total in the implementation of 70 energy-saving technological measures. Up to now those projects have realized an amount of energy saving of 702,000 tons, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1.755 million tons and generated economic benefits of 7 hundred million yuan.
