SIP No. 8 Middle School Opens China's First Polar Science Museum on South Pole

Three girl students are examining a penguin specimen at the school's polar science museum
Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) No. 8 Middle School celebrated its 50th anniversary on November 28 by opening a polar science museum on the South Pole, which is the first of its kind in this country.

A big globe marking the route of China's Antarctic expedition greets every student visiting the hall and gives them a panoramic view of the mission. There is a simulation "cave" built against a setting of ice and snow, capable of recreating the snow storm frequenting the South Pole. Other highlights among exhibits include a model of the Snow Dragon, China's main research ship in the polar region, and a penguin specimen.
