China International Nanotech Innovation Park Gets Underway
A ceremony was held on Nov. 17 in SIP to unveil China International Nanotech Innovation Park, which aims to build clusters of nanotech development and innovation carriers, public technological platforms, R&D and manufacturing, and nanotech consulting entities in the next 10 years to form the largest industrial, technological, and service chain in the field of nanotech development and research and industrialization in China. The unveiling ceremony was attended by Wan Gang, Minister of Science and Technology, Wang Rong, Executive Member of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee. Shang Yong, Vice-minister of Science and Technology, and Zhang Taolin, Vice-governor of Jiangsu province, spoke at the ceremony.
China International Nanotech Innovation Park, to be jointly built by Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Commerce, and Jiangsu Province in Suzhou Industrial Park under government guidance and involvement of research institutions, enterprises, and institutions of higher education through market mechanism, is designed to foster clusters of backbone R&D institutions, nanotech innovative enterprises, nanotech service providers, and manufacturers in nanotech industrialization.
Vice-minister Shang Yong says that the aim of China International Nanotech Innovation Park is to build an internationalized nanotech innovation platform and a demonstration base for independent innovation by fully utilizing global resources. He hopes that the Park will play a leading role in China's nanotech R&D, innovation, and industrialization as a place of concentration for domestic and overseas nanotech enterprises, technological talents, and investment.
Vice-governor Zhang Taolin says that to build China International Nanotech Innovation Park is a measure of strategic importance to the acceleration of China's nanotech industry and to the industrial upgrading in the province. He expresses full confidence to build the Park into the most prominent nanotech industrial innovation base in China with the support and specific requirements of ministries concerned.
China International Nanotech Innovation Park will be formed on the basis of the existing CAS Suzhou Nanotech and Nanobionics Institute, SIP Bionanotech Park, and Zhongke Nanotech Industrialization Base in alliance with various nanotech R&D institutions and enterprises and with the personnel backup of Dushu Lake Higher Education Town.
Other guests at the ceremony include Feng Jichun, Director of Department of Hi-tech Development and Industrialization, Hu Zhijian, Director of Department of Policy and Structural Reform, Chin Yong, Director of Department of Development and Planning, Meng Shuguang, Director of Department of International Cooperation of Ministry of Science and Technology, Zhu Kejiang, Director of Provincial Bureau of Science and Technology, Wang Jinhua, Deputy Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of SIP Party Working Committee, Xu Nanping, Vice-mayor of Suzhou, etc.
At the ceremony, SIP and Finnish National Bureau of Technology signed "MOU on Cooperation in Joint Nanotech Development and Research and Industrialization", CAS Suzhou Nanotech and Nanobionics Institute signed cooperation agreement with Finnish National Technological Research Center, Optical Electronic Center of HK University of Technology, and Sujing Group. Besides, SIP Bionanotech Park signed cooperation agreements with 5 venture capital investment companies.
