Liang Baohua Meets Goh Chok Tong
Liang Baohua, Secretary of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Governor of Jiangsu, met Mr. Goh Chok Tong, Senior Minister of Singapore, and his entourage at Jinji Lake Grand Hotel, SIP, on the morning of Nov. 13, and had cordial talk with the guests.
Liang Baohua expressed welcome to Goh Chok Tong for his visit to Jiangsu Province and presence at the symposium on growth and development held in Suzhou. He said, "New advancement has been made in the relations of friendship and cooperation between Jiangsu and Singapore in the past year with the recent establishment of Jiangsu-Singapore Cooperation Council. In the first meeting of the council, the two sides reached agreement on further enhancing cooperation. Suzhou Industrial Park has become a successful example of the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, and played a leading role in opening to the outside world by adapting the experience of Singapore in economic and public administration to the specific conditions of China."
Liang said: "Our two sides have also agreed to deepen cooperation in investment and trade, modern service industry, urban construction, environmental protection, and talent training. We will make concerted efforts to push such cooperation to more extensive fields to the mutual benefit of the two sides."
Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong thanked Liang for the warm reception, and said, "The seed we sewed 15 years ago has now grown into a thriving SIP. We shall follow closely the future cooperation with Jiangsu Province. By establishing Singapore-Jiangsu Cooperation Council, we aim to achieve sustained development of such relations and extend the successful experience of SIP to other fields and other regions of Jiangsu." He wished greater prosperity to Suzhou and Jiangsu Province.
Present at the meeting were Chin Siat Yoon, Ambassador of Singapore to China, Li Xiaomin, Secretary-general of provincial government, Wang Jinhua, Deputy Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of SIP Party Working Committee, Zhou Weiqiang, Executive Member of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Vice-mayor of Suzhou, and others.
