Zenit Pumps (Suzhou) Co. Opens in Shengpu Township
Zenit Pumps (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., the first investment project of the Italian-owned Zenit Group in China, held an opening ceremony on Oct. 29 in Shengpu Township, SIP, with the attendance of Mr. Piacere, Commercial Attache of Italian General Consulate in Shanghai, Mr. Fu Tai, First Representative of Shanghai Office of Italian Trade Promotion Council, leaders of Shengpu Township government, and representatives from pump-manufacturing industry.
Zenit Group, founded in the 50s of last century and based in the industrial town of Modena, Italy, has grown into the leading manufacturer and supplier of underwater pumps and sewer treatment systems in Europe. The Group started overseas sales branches in 2005. At present, Zenit has branches in Singapore with plans to set up more sales offices in South Africa, and the Middle East.
The China project of Zenit was started up in 2005 with an investment of 4.4 million Euros for the 8,000m2 first-phase workshop, acquired from the township's development and investment company. The first product model, DR100 Pump, was turned out through trial production in Sept. 30, 2006 and the first batch of water pumps were assembled in June 30, 2007 with 90% of the parts localized.
At the opening ceremony, Zenit senior managers expressed that the Group would grasp the opportunity of fast economic growth in China by continuing its investment in China, and that the Zenit HQ had decided to shift more products and components procurement to China while starting up an R&D center in China.
