Qimonda R&D Center to Move into SIP
Qimonda Company, a world-famous memory products supplier, and SIP signed an agreement on Aug. 7 on the establishment of a R&D center in SIP. At the signing ceremony, Wang Jinhua, Deputy Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of SIP Party Working Committee, met Mr. Luo Jianhua, President and CEO of Qimonda Co. and his entourage.
The Qimonda R&D Center will be the fourth project of Qimonda in Suzhou, the previous three being memory production facilities and IT consultancy services organs totaling US$ 1 billion in investment. Qimonda's manufacturing base in SIP is the currently the only large-scale Qimonda plant in China. The planned R&D center, with US$ 8 million registered capital and US$ 20 million in total investment, will unfold all-round product development, including products specifications, circuit designs, and testing on computer memory products. The center will also participate in the IT talent training and carry out cooperation with tertiary institutions in R&D projects in Suzhou.
Based in Munich of Germany, Qimonda Company generated a total sales revenue of 3.81 billion Euros in 2006. The R&D center to be build in Suzhou will be Qimonda's seventh R&D center in the world, and is expected to start operation by October this year. Within the next 5 years, about 200 engineers will recruited from the various universities in China.
