Singaporeans in Suzhou Celebrate National Day
Singaporeans living or working in Suzhou gathered together in a gala festive atmosphere on the evening of Aug. 3 to celebrate the 42nd National Day of Singapore, with the participation of Wang Rong, Executive Member of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee, Yan Li, Deputy Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of Suzhou, Wang Jinhua, Deputy Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of SIP Party Working Committee, Mr. Chin Siat Yoon, Ambassador of Singapore to China, and Mr. Chan Hing Wing, Consul General of Singapore in Shanghai.
In his speech at the celebration rally, Mayor Yan Li said that the high-speed development of Suzhou Industrial Park in the past 13 years pointed to the win-win results of cooperation between Suzhou and Singapore. By the end of last year, the number of projects invested by Singapore in Suzhou had reached over 1,000 with a registered capital of US$ 6.08 billion in the fields of economy, trade, education, and technology. He expressed that there was every reason to predict a brighter future in the cooperation.
The celebration was organized by Suzhou Singapre Club, founded 12 years ago with members across the municipality of Suzhou. The club's website was also activated on the day of celebration with Wang Rong and Mr. Chin Siat Yoon pressing the symbolic light ball.
