The World's Largest Chocolate Producer to Build Factory in Suzhou
Barry Callebaut Company of Switzerland, the world's largest producer of chocolate, recently announced a decision to build a chocolate factory in Suzhou Industrial Park after its successful commencement of sales in Shanghai in October 2006.
Recent statistics from Swiss Chocolate Industrial Federation show that the total sales revenue from Chocolate made a historical record of 1.466 billion Swiss francs (approximate equivalent of 9.5 billion RMB) in 2005, with an increase of 7.5% compared with the previous year.
Switzerland maintains an optimistic view of the Chinese market. The Chinese love for Chocolate keeps growing, and there is great potential on the chocolate market since the average per capita consumption of chocolate is only 20 grams in China.
