Suzhou Delwich International School Inaugurated
Suzhou Dewalt British International School, which is oriented towards the education of expatriates' children in Suzhou, was officially inaugurated in SIP on June 21, and the inauguration ceremony was attended by Vice-mayor Zhu Yongxin.
The school is the fourth international school in Suzhou, the other three being Singapore International School, Suzhou Eton International School, and Suzhou Japanese School. Delwich International School, affiliated to the prestigious 400-year-old Dewalt School of London, UK, is sharing the same campus and teaching facilities as SIP Suzhou Middle School. The school is to open class in late August, when the first batch of students of some 200 students will enrolled from children ranging from pre-school age to Junior high.
There have been active International cooperation and exchanges in education in recent years, and Suzhou is on of the earliest regions in China to encourage Sino-foreign Jointly-run schools. Presently, there are 11 educational projects 11 schools of Sino-foreign cooperation, and as many as 430 foreign teachers have been recruited in the various schools of Suzhou.
