Wang Rong and Yan Li Meet Laotian Vice-premier
Wang Rong, Executive Member of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee, and Yan Li, Deputy Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of Suzhou, met Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, Vice-premier of Laos and concurrently Chairman of Laos-China Cooperation Committee, and his entourage on April 30 respectively, with the presence of Wang Jinhua, Executive Member of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of SIP Party Working Committee.
Wang Rong expressed welcome to the visit by Vice-premier Somsavat Lengsavad to Suzhou and tells the distinguished guests that, over 20 years' development, Suzhou has formed an urban pattern of a city proper with two wings, namely, the old city proper in the middle, flanked by Suzhou Industrial Park, popularly called "modern Suzhou", on the east, and New and Hi-tech Development Zone, known as the "new Suzhou", on the west. Wang says that the vice-premier showed much familiarity with things in China and hopes that the first visit to Suzhou willl deepen his understanding of Suzhou so as to push forward the cooperation between Suzhou and Laos. Wang also stresses that Suzhou attaches high importance to the comprehensive project in Vientiane and hopes that the project will bear fruitful results through Sino-China cooperation.
In his meeting with Vice-premier Somsavat Lengsavad, Mayor Yan Li points out that efforts should be made throughout the early-stage planning, the mid-term development, and investment promotion in the later stage, and hopes the two sides will strengthen exchange and communication to make the project a success.
During the meeting, Vice-premier Somsavat Lengsavad quoted the old saying, "Paradise in heaven, and Suzhou and Hangzhou on earth," and talked about his impression of the scenic beauty of Suzhou, the sound mentality of the people here, and coordinated development of economy and social undertakings. He says, "We can feel through out visit the importance of the Vientiane comprehensive project in the mind of Suzhou authorities and SIP. We are highly optimistic about the prospect of the project, and hopes the two sides will achieve complete success in the cooperation."
Also present at the meetings were Ma Minglong, Chairman of Sipac, and Tan Gongjiao, Director of Municipal Foreign Affairs Office.
