Dorma's Largest Plant Opens in Suzhou
The newly completed 16,000m2 phase-1 plant of Dorma Door Control Technology (China) Co., Ltd. officially opened on April 19 as a milestone of Dorma Group's ten years' smooth development in SIP. So far, over 60 German enterprises have been set up in SIP with a total of USD 2 billion investment.
The Germany-based Dorma Group is the world's largest supplier of door control systems having 66 subsidiaries in 45 countries and manufacturing facilities in Europe, Singapore, Malaysia, China, North and South America. Dorma is a world market leader in door closers, sound-proof movable walls, automatic door systems, and glass fittings and accessories.
Since its entry in SIP in 1998, Dorma Group has been continuously expanding the scale from the original leased 500m2 workshop to its own plant in 2001, and now to the present premises of 30,000 square meters. The phase-1 investment amounted to 16 million US dollars. The new plant will chiefly produce hardware products for door control systems, glass fittings, movable walls, and automatic series of products. The numerically controlled technologies applied in the new plant are superior even to those in the home-based German plants.
