Sika China HQ Building Completed in Suzhou

The new building of Sika (China) Building Materials Co., Ltd., a world leader in chemical building material supply, was completed on March 15 along with Sika manufacturing center (Phase 1). A grand opening ceremony was held to celebrate this historic step of Sika’s China strategy, attended by Mr. William Frei, Consul General of Switzerland in Shanghai, Wang Jinhua, Deputy Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of SIP Party Working Committee, and senior managers of Swiss-based Sika Corporation.

Since its founding in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1910, Sika has invested in more than 80 manufacturing plants in over 70 countries to produce chemical building materials for both civil engineering and manufacturing industries.

Sika carries out R&D by the principle of "global strategy and implementation through localization". Sika's core R&D center at Swiss HQ is supported by regional technological centers in Germany, France, USA, Japan, and Malaysia, a framework that facilitates speedy transfer of technological patents and global implementation of research achievements at market.

Sika established Hong Kong branch in 1958, and Guangzhou Sika Building Materials Co., Ltd. in 1994 in initial entry into China market, followed by branches and manufacturing plants in Tianjin, Beijing, Dalian, and Shanghai.

Presently Sika owns 7 manufacturing plants in China with sales networks spread across the country for sales of the series of chemical building materials such as concrete agents, PVC waterproof materials, sealing gels and adhesives for auto industry, industrial flooring materials, slip casting materials, and protective coating for concrete and steel structures, etc.

In vigorous growth in China, Sika lost no time in expanding investment in China, and in 2006, Sika moved its China HQ to Suzhou Industrial Park and at the same time established Sika (China) Building Materials Co., Ltd. in SIP. The brand-new technological center was also set up in the new China Headquarters. The HQ building and manufacturing and technological center in SIP now covers an area of 75,000m2, and cost a total of USD 48 million investment.
