Deputy British Consul General in Shanghai Visits Xi'an Jiaotong & Liverpool University
On the first day of the new semester, Xi'an Jiaotong & Liverpool University in Dushu Lake Higher Education Town welcomed Mr. Philip Mani, Deputy Consul General of UK in Shanghai on his visit to the campus. Song Yonghua, Executive Vice-president of the university and member of British Royal Engineering Academy, had a pleasant talk with Mr. Mani.
Song Yonghua gave the deputy consul general an outlined introduction on the first enrollment and planned nation-wide and global enrollment scheme, the current majors, and new majors for the year 2008, and plans for postgraduate and PhD programs.
Mr. Mani expressed keen interest in the human arts majors of the university and the superior geographical location of the campus. He said that the adequate environment for study and life, the host of multinational corporations in SIP will provide ideal conditions for the students' study and life and practice. He believed that the school become an ideal alternative for Chinese students who wished to study in UK. The university will soon initiate Sino-British Education Forum, and establish a practice base for British students. Mr. Mani expressed that he would help to promote the education concepts of the university and support the development of the school.
