Suzhou Metro Railway No.1 Line to Begin Construction in Late October
The second phase of Suzhou Railway Station project is to be completed in the coming June, and after that, on October 28, the construction of No.1 Line of the metro railway will be unfolded throughout the line. The schedule was finally set at the 2007 municipal conference on urban transportation presided over by Vice-mayor Zhu Jiansheng on March 1.
10 projects in urban construction and 10 transportation projects at the municipal level will altogether cost 50.78 billion RMB in investment this year, covering the railway station area reconstruction, infrastructure reformation for commercial belts, the construction of new urban areas of Canlang, Pingjiang, and Jinchang Districts, the LRV rail traffic project, afforestation and greening projects, public transport improvement, and reform of old street blocks and residential areas, low-rent housing projects, urban road construction, navigation channels and sluice gate construction, etc.
All these projects are tightly planned in a strict schedule. Engineering plan and preparations for of the long-awaited metro railway project (No.1 Line) will be completed by September so that construction will start from Oct. 28 in full swing.
