500 Suzhou-made Kinglong Coaches Exported to Qatar
On the morning of Oct. 10, a convoy of 500 Haig Coaches, manufactured in SIP by Suzhou Kinglong Company under Chuanyuan Group, started the export journey to Qatar as the largest single order of export to overseas market and the first instance of China-made coaches to serve international sports games. The coaches will be used for transport during the 15th Asian Games to be held in Doha, Qatar. At the delivery ceremony held on that day, Wang Rong, Member of Standing Committee and Secretary of Municipal Party Committee, presented a “safety Knot” to the customer representative along with coach keys. Mayor Yan Li delivered a speech at the ceremony, and other municipal leaders, Wang Jinhua and Zhou Weiqiang, attended the ceremony. The convoy will be loaded at Shanghai port and embark on a 22-day voyage to reach Doha, capital of Qatar.
Auto market in Qatar is a new market to Chinese auto manufacturers as well as a test for the quality of passenger coaches. The highly developed economy and desert location of the country put high standards for the safety of coaches, and Chinese coaches have not been able to work their way to Qatar previously. For the current order of 500 Haig coaches, the manufacturer made over 100 technical improvements, such as additional condensers in A/C system and interior cleaning agent. Suzhou Kinglong spent a matter of two months, from the issue of order in July to October, to complete the survey of the driving environment and improvement plans. At the delivery ceremony, representatives from Qatar disclosed that after the Asian Games, the 500 coaches would be used as school buses, and in the nest two year, Qatar was planning to import another 1,200 coaches from Suzhou.
Mayor Yan Li said at the ceremony that the first export of Haig coaches to Qatar marked the entry of Suzhou coaches into the advanced international standard with initial competitive edge, and it was the fruitful result of Chuanyuan Group in independent innovation and tenacious efforts in promoting local auto industry.
Suzhou Kinglong under Chuanyuna Group is a whole-car manufacturer with over 300 models of coaches, and its Haig coaches have been exported to over 30 countries and regions such as Russia, UAE, Ghana, Chili, Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong, etc. The production of large and medium-sized coaches from Suzhou Kinglong ranks the second in China. Its sales from January to September exceeded 10,000. The second phase of manufacturing plant, now under construction in SIP, will be completed in June next year and form the largest manufacturing base in China with an annual capacity of 18,000 large and medium-sized coaches.
