Liang Baohua Meets Guests from Singapore
On the evening of Sept 12, Liang Baohua, Governor of Jiangsu Provicne, met the delegation led by Lee Yi Shyan, Minister for Trade and Industry of Singapore, in Nanjing and had cordial talks with the guests.
Liang Baohua expressed his delight and welcome to the delegation of commerce from Singapore on their visit to Jiangsu, and says that close relations of cooperation has existed between Jiangsu Province and Singapore, and only last year, the import and export volume between the two sides had reached US$5.8 billion. Singapore has become a major source of investment in Jiangsu. At present, Singapoer has invested over 2,700 projects in Jiangsu, and direct investment has exceeded 10 billion US dollars. Great progress has been made in the development and construction of Suzhou Industrial Park under the care and support of the leaders of the two countries and the concerted efforts of the two sides. SIP has become an example for Sino-foreign economic cooperation. Liang hopes that the two sides will further expand the areas for exchange and cooperation, and more enterprises from Singapore will carry out exchange and cooperation in northern and central parts of Jiangsu for mutual benefit.
Minister Lee Yi Shyan thanked Governor Liang Baohua for the warm reception congratulated the province for its remarkable development. He says that investment from Singapore has reaped fruitful results in Jiangsu. Currently about 1/3 of Singapore's investment projects in China are located in Jiangsu Province, and the visiting representatives form enterprises of Singapore represent a wide spectrum of trade and industry. Lee expressed their readiness to expand cooperation and exchange with Jiangsu Province.
Present at the meeting were Li Xiaomin, Secretary-general of the Provincial Government, and other responsible members of departments concerned.
