Suzhou's IC Industry Grows by Annual 50%
The 3-day 4th China International IC Industrial Exhibition and Symposium (IC China 2006), held on Sept. 6 at Int'l Expo Center by Jinji Lake, SIP, goes on around the thematic topic "independent innovation for common development". Many latest products and technologies have been introduced at the event. Zhou Weiqiang, Vice-mayor of Suzhou, says at the news release that the exhibition, as the largest semiconductor exhibition in China, will enable IC enterprises of Suzhou to acquire the frontline information and to make suzhou better understood by domestic and overseas IC enterprises.
The 3 previous IC industrial exhibitions were held in Shanghai and Beijing. In the current exhibition, more than 200 semiconductor enterprises from China and abroad participated with 10,000m2 floorage for exhibition. The participants represent all the aspects of semiconductor industrial chain, from IC designing, chip manufacturing, testing, to equipment and materials, scientific research, service, and information agency, etc. Well-known enterprises in designing, manufacturing, testing, and research are all involved in the event, either as exhibitors or speakers at the symposium. Samsung and Toshiba will demonstrate their latest technologies and products in testing, digital audio-visual, and auto electronics. Speeches will be given at the summit symposium by CEOs or senior managers of 14 world-famous semiconductor corporations, and in-depth exploration will be made concerning the development trend and frontier technologies in semiconductor industry.
Suzhou Industrial Park is at present claiming 16% of the total industrial output value of IC industry in China by only three 100,000ths of the land area of the country, which is second only to Shanghai. With an annual growth of 50%, the IC industry in Suzhou region is showing the greatest density of clustering of IC enterprises, and that accounts for the location of the current exhibition event.
