SIP Holds Unveiling Ceremony for "National IPR Experimentation"
The unveiling ceremony for "National Intellectual Property Rights Experimentation Park" was held on the afternoon of July 26, at which Zhang Qin, Vice-director of National Intellectual Property Rights, and Wang Rong, Member of Standing Committee of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Secretary of Suzhou Municipal Party Committee, unveiled the signboard of "National Intellectual Property Rights Experimentation Site – Suzhou Industrial Park", which was the only one of its kind in the whole of Jiangsu. Wang praised in his speech that SIP had been advancing in the forefront of implementing intellectual rights strategy and fostering and protecting intellectual property rights in the province.
Over the years, SIP has witnessed an average annual increase of 45% in patent applications, and last year the increase rate reached the historical record of 74.5%. By the end of May 2006, patent applications in SIP had numbered 2,187, and those authorized 1,200, invention patent application 469, registered trademarks 1,094, famous trademarks of Jiangsu Province 7, and software authorship registrations 240. The implementation of intellectual rights strategy has effectively spurred on the upgrading of competitiveness of the whole SIP.
The designation of SIP as intellectual property rights experimentation site is an affirmation of the results in protecting intellectual property rights in SIP in the past 12 years, and it will be of great significance in promoting the further growth of new and hi-tech industries with independent intellectual property rights.
Meanwhile, the 3rd China International Patent and Famous Brands Exposition was opened at Suzhou Int'l Expo Center by Jinji Lake, SIP, under the sponsorship of National Intellectual Property Rights Bureau and the People's Government of Jiangsu Province.
