Suzhou Rises as New Base of Domestic Printing Industry
Last year, the industrial output value of printing in Suzhou hit 18.5 billion yuan RMB, which took up 56.9% that of the whole province and maintained absolute superior and leading position in Jiangsu as a printing industrial base in China.
The fast growth in social and economic undertakings in Suzhou in recent years has opened up rich market resources for printing and greatly spurred on the development of printing industry in the whole municipality. Press and publication departments at all levels in Suzhou have seized the opportunities in guiding the printing enterprises in management improvement and technological renovation and reform so as to raise the technical level, quality of printing, and competitiveness of the whole industry.
Presently, there are altogether over 2,190 printing mills, about 24.1% of those in the province, with 80,000 employees. A large number of new and hi-tech printing technologies have been introduced to Suzhou, such as Roland R900XXL extra-large 4-color UV printer, Agfa VLF CTP printing board system, HPSCI-TEXFB6700 digital color printer, etc.
Marketing for investment in the printing industry is going out in full swing, under the coordination of press and publication authorities at different levels in county-level cities and districts. The number of foreign-invested printing enterprises has reached over 130 with a total of 1.6 billion USD in registered capital.
Late October this year is scheduled for "the 1st Suzhou Printing Fair", at which selected printing enterprises will be commended and on-spot recruitment of managerial and technical personnel be carried out. Various printing equipment will be exhibited and information released on new technologies and equipment from prestigious overseas and domestic printing R&D institutions.
