Foundation Laid for Second Samsung Plant in SIP
Samsung Electronics (Suzhou) Semiconductor Co., Ltd. in SIP held a foundation-laying ceremony on July 7 for its second plant, attended by Yan Li, Deputy Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of Suzhou, and Wang Jinhua, Deputy Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of SIP Party Committee, along with Mr. Park, President of Samsung HQ from Korea.
Mayor Yan Li congratulated Samsung company, which is one of the earliest hi-tech enterprises to have moved into SIP, on its fast growth in the past years, and expressed his confidence to see another leap forward in Samsung's China operation with the construction of the second plant in SIP. He believed that Samsung would surely attain its business goal of becoming a super world-class enterprise. Mr. Park said that Samsung was one of the first foreign-invested enterprises in SIP and Samsung's first semiconductor manufacturing base outside of Korea. He hoped that the two sides would further strengthen exchanges and set an example of win-win situation.
The second plant of Samsung is designed to produce the most sophisticated high-level semiconductor products like DRAM and SRAM. The total investment of Samsung Electronics (Suzhou) Semiconductor Co., Ltd. has now amounted to 450 million US dollars. Presently, the company is implementing an operation program of “complete localization”, striving to localize whole operation cycle from product R&D to material procurement, production, and sales.
