Energy Conservation in SIP Construction to Meet National Standards
Collecting rain water to irrigate trees and lawns, opening skylight for illumination and reduce electricity consumption, using high-refractory panels plus thermal coating to create comfortable room temperature and to reduce use of air-conditioning and heating, installing 50 electric sockets for recharging bicycle battery by solar energy, … these are some of the energy-saving measures taken by Plantronics Communication Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., the first green, energy-saving, and environment-friendly factory in China. Representatives from SIP enterprises gathered in the Plantronics facility on May 18 to study at close quarters the unique architectural style of the company and to attend an on-spot discussion on green buildings in SIP.
In response to the national call to build resource-saving and environment-friendly society, SIP has set forth the construction goal to build a compact-structured, resource-saving ecological new urban district in east Suzhou, and to this end, an important measure is to popularize green energy-saving buildings. The green building refers to those designed and constructed according to energy-saving standards, in which energy consumption can be reduced in their functions of living, work, and activities, and efficient utilization of resources and minimum impact on environment can be achieved.
During the survey and discussion, SIP government distributed written regulations for evaluation of green buildings among the representatives. The regulations will be further improved to serve as SIP standards for annual evaluation of green buildings. The first evaluation campaign will be held by the end of this year to award advanced units and individuals in green construction.
