New Gates-Unitta Plant Opens operation
An opening ceremony was held on May 9 at the new plant of Gates-Unitta Power Transmission (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. in SIP to announce the official commencement of operation in the third Gates-Unitta plant in China, the other two previously built plants being in Shanghai and SIP. Wang Jinhua, Deputy Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of SIP Party Working Committee, attended the celebration rally.
Founded in 1995, Gates-Unitta Power Transmission (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. is the first foreign-invested manufacturing facility for automotive and industrial power transmission belts in China, owned by American Gates Rubber Company (51% shares) and Japanese Nitta Company (49% shares) on a land area of 610,000 square meters with over 500 employees. The company has brought in the latest technology, materials, equipment, and management expertise of the industry from Gates plants in USA, Europe and Japan.
Gates-Unitta is currently the supplier of No.1 Auto Volkswagen, Shanghai GM, Guangzhou Honda, Dongfeng Shenglong, Jiangling Ford, Shanghai Delf, and other major manufacturers of automobiles and engines, and has its regional distributors in over 20 provinces and municipalities.
