Construction begins at China-Singapore Technology Town
A ceremony was held on the morning of April 16 to commence the construction of China-Singapore Technology Town at the northern part of SIP, attended by Senior Minster Goh Chok Tong of Singapore, Wang Rong, Member of Standing Committee of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Secretary of Suzhou Municipal Party Committee, and Yan Li, Deputy Secretary of Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Suzhou.
China-Singapore Technology Town is situated on the southern side of Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway and to the south of Yangcheng Lake Tourism and Vacation Zone, with a planned area of 4 square kilometers and a population of 30,000. As a major engineering project beneficial to the citizens, China-Singapore Technology Town is planned to be a hi-tech industrial park combining the functions of manufacturing, R&D, residence, and commerce. According to the plan of CSSD, the development of infrastructure will be completed in 2 years, land for industrial purposes in 3 years, and land for commercial purposes in 5 years.
Upon completion, China-Singapore Technology Town will be characterized by world-class infrastructure, high-level regional planning, optimum ecological environment, clustering of global hi-tech industries, pioneering base for senior and intermediate-level talents, and an intelligent-type of multifunctional zone with international competitiveness. The rise of China-Singapore Technology Town will doubtless exert positive impact on the development of Yangcheng Lake area and the carriers of hi-tech industries in SIP, and uplift the level of SIP land planning and construction.
