Japanese Enterprises Increased to 259in SIP

Japanese investment in SIP is showing increasing number of projects in extended fields with greater contribution, and to better understand the situation at these enterprises and to solicit their suggestions and comment, Wang Jinhua, Deputy Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of SIP Party working Committee, visited Panasonic Electrical R&D (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., YKKAP Building Material (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., and Asahi Special Glass (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., and held discussion with representatives of more than 20 Japanese-invested enterprises on March 10.

Presently the number of Japanese-funded enterprises in SIP has increased to 259, with 1.66 billion USD registered capital, about 10% of the total in SIP. In last year alone, 35 Japanese enterprises were registered in SIP. Currently the Japanese enterprises cover the fields of IT, light industry, chemical and pharmaceutical, machinery, and service trade, etc. Last year, the Japanese-invested enterprises achieved a total industrial output value of 21.5 billion RMB, comprising 13% that of the whole SIP.

After his on-spot survey of Japanese enterprises, Wang Jinhua pointed out that SIP had always given major priority to developing export-oriented economy with special attention on the development of foreign-invested enterprises including those of Japan by creating favorable conditions for their growth. He hoped that the Japanese-owned enterprises would grasp the opportunity in economic re-orientation, speed up industrial upgrading, and build their Suzhou plants into the most important base-type enterprises outside their HQ's.
