SIP Presents 2006 New Year Concert
"2006 SIP New Year Concert", organized by SIP Bureau of Social Development, attracted swarms of audience, including Sipac leaders, to the auditorium of Singapore International School some 10 kilometers away from downtown, in the drizzling night of Dec. 30.
The concert was given by Helsinki Festival Orchistra of Finland, with rising fame as a new emerging orchestra in Europe, which was made a permanent performing team at "Kolm Tri-yearly Music Festival" in Germany. The orchestra has been warmly received for its performance in Berlin, Vienna, London, Copenhagen, Frankfort, and other major European cities. This year is the first visit of China by the orchestra to give concert at Beijing Century theater and Shanghai Oriental Art Center.
At the concert, the orchestra played Beethoven's piano concerto in D major, Sibelius' symphony No. 2, etc., conducted by Oli Mustonen. The enchanting melody brought the audience to a land of fairytales and every item was warmly applauded.
The success of the concert gives the organizer confidence in introducing more and more high-brow cultural events to SIP to uplift the quality oft cultural activities for the residence of SIP in the future.
