Jiangsu Speeds Up Development of Export and Processing Zones

An upsurge has come this year for the development of export and processing zones in Jiangsu Province. In the first three quarters of the year, the eight operating export and processing zones in the province have fulfilled import and export volume of US$ 16.4 billion, with export alone amounting to US$ 9.12 billion, which increased respectively by 87.4% and 80.8% compared with the corresponding period of last year, and 42% and 54.4% higher than the average increase rates in the whole province. The contracted foreign investment in export and processing zones amounted to 1.49 billion USD, an increase of 126.5% over last year, while paid-up registered foreign capital amounted to 380 million USD, an increase of 70.7% over the corresponding period of last year, and 108% and 42.6% higher than the overall growth rates of the province.

It is reported that export and processing zones in Kunshan City and Suzhou Industrial Park have maintained the highest speed of development in the province. In the first three quarters of the year, Kunshan Export and Processing Zone fulfilled import and export volume of 12.51 billion USD, with export alone taking up 6.99 billion USD, which stand for 71.8% and 64.4% increase over the corresponding period of last year, ranking the first among all export and processing zones in the province and the second in the whole of China. SIP export and processing zone completed import and export volume of 2.37 billion USD, ranking the second in the province. In the meantime, The pace of development is being quickened noticeably in the export and processing zones in Nanjing Southern District, Wuxi, and Nantong.
