A New Scientific Research Base Set Up in SIP
Curtain rose over the newly established "Allied Advanced Research Center (Suzhou)", jointly set up by China University of Science and Technology and HK City University, in Dushu Lake Higher Education Zone, SIP, in the opening ceremony on Oct. 17. Among those at the ceremony were Zhu Qingshi, Academician and President of China University of Science and Technology, Zhang Xingang, President of HK City University, Wang Jinhua, Deputy Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of SIP Party Working Committee, Pan Yunguan, Deputy Secretary of SIP Party Working Committee and Vice-director of Sipac, and other guests of honor.
The Center is offering 4 training programs for postgraduates, which are Internet service, application mathematics, knowledge and innovation management, and control and integrated electrical machinery. At the Center, the "new generation of Web service computing laboratory", based on major national basic research project (e.g., Project No.973), is soon to go into operation. Currently under construction is the "environmental technology laboratory", which caters for water environment treatment in the Suzhou region. At present, there are 50 postgraduates for both master and doctor degrees have started in the 4-year program at the Center.
According to the school authorities, the two universities, based on the platform of the research center, will provide the best results of scientific research for the Yangtze delta region, and make contributions to the scientific research of the country and local economic construction by training and turning out high-quality technological workers.
