3 Overseas Expatriates in SIP Granted Honorary Titles


Suzhou Municipal People's Government recently held a grand ceremony to declare the newly granted 6 "honorary citizens of Suzhou" and 21 "Friends of Suzhou" to mark the contribution of these overseas expatriates to the construction of Suzhou. Mayor Yan Li delivered a speech at the ceremony, which was presided over by Tan Gongjiao, Director of Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and attended by Zhou fuyuan, Chairman of Municipal People's Congress, and Chen Zhengang, Secretary-general of the Municipal Government.

2 foreign friends from Suzhou Industrial Park were among the newly granted "citizens of Suzhou": Tan Kong Toh (of Singapore), authorized legal representative of Fairchild Semiconductor (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., Bruno Mercier (of France), legal representative and chairman of Suzhou Auchan Supermarket. Jiao Youheng (of Taiwan Province, China), Chairman of Walsin Technology Stock Co., Ltd., was granted the honorary title of "friend of Suzhou".

Mayor Yan Li congratulated the 27 overseas expatriates from 12 countries and regions for receiving the honorary titles and expressed thanks for their contribution in the past years in promoting the economic growth of Suzhou. He said that the support of the friendly overseas expatriates had a direct bearing on the development of Suzhou, and that the people of Suzhou would always remember their meritorious deeds.
