Auto Parts Industrial Chain in SIP Further Extends

In the sustained investment enthusiasm in auto part industry in SIP, Siegel-Robert Automotive Company, a global supplier of auto parts for GM, Toyota, Ford, and other name-brand auto manufacturers, held an opening ceremony for its newly built plant in SIP on Sept. 23, with the presence of Wang Jinhua, Deputy Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of SIP Party Working Committee. Since the beginning of this year, Bosch and **, both of the top ten automotive enterprises in the world, have set up technological centers and new plants in SIP. The latest statistics from SIP government show that more than 30 foreign auto parts enterprises have built their manufacturing bases in SIP.

Early this year, the Japanese-owned AKEBONO Braking System Company invested US$ 22.7 million to set Shuguang Braking System (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. in SIP, which is scheduled to operate before the end of the year, and the goal set for 2010 is 12 million disc-shaped friction plates. A chain reaction took on as in April the German-owned Robert-Bosche Group set up a technological center in SIP, with a total investment amount of 60 million USD, which is to provide hi-techs in chassis system, energy, electronic system, auto multimedia, etc. at China market, while offering auto part and system testing for Bosche’s auto parts business in China. In the same month, the American-invested Delphi Electronic (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. in SIP went into operation after expansion, and its main products range from auto electronic equipment such as stereo sets, power combinations, to safety systems, etc., covering the whole process of production from circuit assembling, packaging, to testing. In May, the first wholly owned auto part plant of Norsk Hydro in China and a 30 million USD venture, Hydro Aluminum (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. was completed in SIP to serve suppliers of auto manufacturers in China and neighboring Asian countries.

The new plant of Siegel-Robert Automotive (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., on a land area of 22,000 sq.m., chiefly produces parts for plastic plating and electronic coating, including grilles, plates, door handles, and interior and exterior decorations, and related service for auto manufacturing in China and the world. It can be anticipated that with more and more auto parts manufacturers coming into SIP, many auto parts of famous brand vehicles will bear the sign of “made in SIP” in the foreseeable future.
