Loufeng Township Rises As Backup Base for IC Industry
On the morning of Sept. 6, the Taiwan-invested Vitesta Data Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. held its ground-breaking ceremony for its new plant in Loufeng Township, SIP, on a land area of 55,000 square meters. The plant construction is planned to complete by June 2006. A specialized manufacturer of memory modules and flash memories, Vitesta Data Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. invested US$ 7.5 million for the project. Its parent company, a listed company in Taiwan, is the largest manufacturing enterprise of memory modules in Taiwan, whose products have won a series of prizes in the industry, and by 2004, it had ranked the third in the global production of memory modules, the third among the top 100 technology enterprises in Taiwan, and the fifth among the 500 fast-growing hi-tech enterprises in Asian and Pacific region.
Vitesta Data Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. was formally incorporated on January 2004 in Loufeng Township, SIP, and the current construction of new plant will further reinforce its position in the global industry.
Suzhou Industrial Park is one the major manufacturing bases of integrated circuits in China, and Loufeng Development Sub-zone is the largest backup base for SIP, where a number of Taiwan-based hi-tech electronic industries have already settled down. Alongside the new plant of Vitesta Data Technology, 5 semiconductor memory module manufacturers have set up bases in Loufeng, such as ** and **. The sub-zone is rising prominently as a regional semiconductor production base as well as a backup base for IC industry.
