SIPIVT and Michigan University Agree on 2+2 Cooperation Project
Recently, Dr. Daniel Little, President of University of Michigan - Dearborn, and Pro. Chen Yubao of the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing System Engineering visited SIP Institute of Vocational Technology, and were received by Vice Mayor Zhu Yongxin and IVT President Shan Qiang.
University of Michigan, a top-ranking public university in America, ranks the first among the 10 universities in the Midwest of USA, and it is composed of three independent universities, of which Dr. Daniel Little is the president of the Dearborn Campus. A professor of philosophy, Dr. Little is mainly engaged in political and social studies, including the issue on Chinese peasants. Last year, Dr. Robert Simpson, Vice-president of University of Michigan, on his visit to IVT, was favorably impressed by the management of the school and the cultural atmosphere here, and the two parties had in-depth discussions on exchanges in teachers’ training, development of curriculum, and exchange of students between the two schools. The current visit by Dr. Daniel Little is intended to gain further understanding and push forward the "2+2" cooperation project, which will provide the teachers and students of IVT opportunities of further training to raise their education background at University of Michigan. During his stay in Suzhou, Dr. Daniel Little also visited Dushu Lake Advanced Education Zone, and had academic exchanges with Research Center of Urbanization of Chinese Rural Areas, Soochow University.
